Rosemary Kralik is a farmer who believes art is life, life is art and she lives hers.
Both Art & Agriculture begin with "A" yet are not at the top of the economic ladder. Agriculture is the Mother of all Arts & makes civilization possible. Historically when a civilization turns its back on Agriculture, it spells the end of that civilization & when archaeologists dig up ruins, what they find is Art.
“I've put my money where my mouth is & practice the Art of Agriculture & finance it with the Art that comes from Agriculture; it is a cycle I love but notice few have the fortitude to live.”
As she traveled from country to country with her family, she craved to put down one permanent taproot. It took half a century of study and work to establish her magnum opus. Tiraislin Fold, her performance piece, is an ongoing, long-term Agricultural Artwork covering 722 acres in the Highlands where she pasture raises Yaks, Highlands, Sheep, Goats, Tamworths, Horses and more.
Some of the people, animals and places that made this possible are the subjects of her paintings, drawings, sculptures or related projects produced in the studio. The farm produces meat, raised calmly, in the sun, free ranging on natural forage. The art is to raise the kind of meat that is normal, healthy, delicious and happy.
Great respect, indeed love, for the animals and their ways, her promise to each that they will live a happy and healthy life and that their passing will be quiet, calm and immediate.
Visitors from many countries have their portraits painted as they observe and absorb a different way of life, serenely close to nature, where animals are playful, communicative, warm and healing.
