Profile
As a young artist, I am forced to look at art of today, and compare it with those pieces of the so- called masters. In some ways, this makes me see the massive differences in the society and thoughts of today and then. In other ways, I can see how a freer, bolder thought, can produce astounding results. In some people, modern art takes on a less impressive role. It proves to them that people are lazy, and no longer care for small detail and intricacies. For others, it says that people of today have a broader understanding of the mind and and a larger capacity to think. While both sides have their arguments and their many valid issues, I feel that this difference between old and new has created an almost unbreakable barrier between the two times. You are either modern or old- fashioned. But I believe, that the strongest art, and the most meaningful to the widest range, is what happens in between. When an artist learns from the ancient masters and mixes these characteristics with a modern style motif. I hope to do this in my painting. Some would say that I am digressing; that I am returning to an already visited aspect of art. But I say that I am advancing modern art. Instead of completely leaving behind what we have spent thousands of years to accomplish, I work to incorporate these tools into modern art. I aim to create a happy marriage between the old and new. Finally bridging the gap between renaissance and cubist, impressionist and hellenistic, minimalist and expressionist. Once you have gone to the edge of painting and removed all sign and remembrance of the past, you can either stop altogether, or rediscover art. I feel that through my art, I can rediscover art for what it was, while also pushing art to the future.
