About My Work... My hand-built ceramic vessels draw on primitive forms and natural materials - a mix of Asian, African and Native American elements highlighted by objects, textures and colors found in nature. Each vessel is unique and individually crafted. Although derived from simple functional forms, the embellishment of each piece creates a more aesthetically stimulating work. I am also continuing my work on a series of mixed media wall sculptures. The series is essentially my experiment with the classic nude and a simplified human form- abstracting , incorporating non-traditional media, adding a splash of the contemporary. Some pieces are purely conceptual. Some whimsical. Others incorporate the fantastical and psychological elements of surrealism. In terms of content and subject, the works are largely influenced by people and our society- both the positive and negative aspects.
