I enjoy the challenge of being a "purist" when painting with watercolors. There is a childlike simplicity about the medium: water, paint, and paper. I enjoy seeing the public's reaction to the bright and bold colors that can be obtained with watercolors.
I bring my garden indoors to my home studio. Each fresh and vibrant flower "portrait" is a study in color and shape. These realistic watercolors capture the character of each petal, leaf, and hue through color harmony and depth. Flowers bring enjoyment to the senses, visually and emotionally. I hope that my paintings instill the viewer with the same delight. Someone once said to me about my floral paintings, "It's as if you could almost reach out and touch it." Though I've experienced popularity with my florals I do not limit my subjects to such.
