Profile
I am selling prints of work from a great artist who is now deceased. The artists name is Alvin Outlaw. Born in 1941 Alvin was a wood sculptor and painter of Black Art. Mr. Outlaw depicted life as he experienced it during the 40's and 50's. Every painting tells a story of a time when life was simple. Mr. Outlaw lived this life until graduating from high school in 1961 when he began a career as a barber. To satisfy his insatiable desire as an artist, he began sculpting between hair cuts. Even though he had a successful business, it never satisfied his artistic drive. Only when he began painting in 1995 was that accomplished. Alvin's art has sold nationally, and he even had some of his work displayed on the set of a Television hit show "Everybody Loves Raymond". Alvin, who was my Stepfather passed away in January of 2005. His wish was to have is art discovered by as many people as possible and to have them share in a special time and cherished memories of a man who captured a real part of US history on canvas. My Mom (Alvin's Wife) and myself are trying to keep his dream alive and carry out his wishes.
