Cindy Tonkin's art work begin at the age of 40, when she took her first art class. She had her first solo exhibition 13 months later. She is prolific and tends to work in unrelated series. Her first exhibition was entitled Patchwork and Stories, and featured 50 collaged works. Since then she has made "Cities and Shapes" a series of Parisian buildings collaged from antique sheet music, "Inklings" an acrylic series inspired by the movement of ink on paper, "Inner Beauty" working from medical images of cells and the human body, and is currently working on "Everyday Objects", and acrylic series based on photographs taken of furniture, tables, chairs and benches. Cindy is never without her camera and is constantly looking for new things to paint and collage.
