Artifacts series/Oriental This painting is inspired by the Chinese artifacts that I've seen. But unlike the traditional ones, my painting comes with a few twists. This 'Lady on Horseback' is a ceramic with jewellery, gold details on the figurine and the horse. The noble lady sat on the male horse with her lower legs exposed and her bare unbound feet slipped into the stirrups. This would be considered highly provocative in ancient China because ladies always dress with their arms and legs concealed under their clothes. Horse is a sensuous creature with its anatomical muscles reviewed in vivid nakedness. The juxtaposition of the lady and the horse conveyed a subtle air of sexuality, enhanced by the jewels worn on the horse neck and golden straps. This imagined ceramic is 3feet high and 3.5feet wide. Enjoy!
