This is a fish known commonly in Africa and a prized fish sought by many fishermen. It was commissioned along with 4 other African fish for an aquatic display at a Denmark Zoo. Carved freehand from wood, it has been hand scaled painted in watercolors which allows the natural knots/grain to show through. Sealed in 5 coats of a semi-gloss marine high grade varnish which will keep the colors from fading over time. The back has 2 coats also along with the date, name, number and dryriver carvings logo. The fish has a glass fish eye. Measures 14 inches in length and is 12 inches in height. An original from DryRiver Carvings.
