Born in 1949, Alessandro Nocentini continues to live and work in the city of his birth, Florence, Italy. A second-generation engraver, Nocentini is considered by many to be one of Italy's most accomplished etchers, receiving rave reviews from both the critics and public alike.
His chine-colle etchings, individually water colored, reveal a lyrical effect of remarkable intensity. This aptitude was more than apparent in his latest exhibitions held in the Unified States and Germany where he unveiled a delicate study of light on water, a study of reflection and transparency. Classical studies of slightly abstracted flora engage the viewer to contemplate the ephemeral beauty of the images.
