Tree Of Life
THE TREE OF LIFE Description of tue piec: The sculpture was conceived by the author based on the matter and deeds of life itself as well as the ethereal elementals present in our planet, such as the elementals of earth, the forest, the sea and the concepts of wisdom and candor (the iguana and the fish) as well as the little understood intelligence of the dauphins; it also bears elements such as the grapevine which represents, among other things, the grape leaf (in some religions it represented the first item which covered its nudity) as well as the wine, which combined with the presence of the serpent suggests the temptations in our lives. Other elements such as the horseshoe an the gold put next to the gnome makes us meditate about luck and financial gains. The presence of the female figure which suggests at the same time fertility and also the elemental of the water, is here in the form of a siren, we also observe the symbols of life and equilibrium which also suggest the ambiguity of the human being, of night and day and all its significance (the sun, the moon); an on top, as the pinnacle , we have a fetus, unborn, nestled on the iguana´s end of the tail, reminding us of the promise of a new life, the reborn human being, after having passed through a lifetime of temptations and experiences, positive and negative. The fact that the child lies on a nest signifies the time elapsed before being born again and the nest formed by the curling tail of the iguana signifies (in some cultures) the acquisition of wisdom. At the bottom, we find, as lord and master of the tree trunk, the gnome, representing the male gender as well as the elemental of all the forests upon the face of the earth sitting, keeping guard and fulfilled next to his gold pot, having mastered the ingenuity and stubbornness of the fish which has been caught with a rope. MATERIALS OF THE PIECE: Fabricated with marmoline and resin, done over in bronze rustic oxide type, protected with a layer of varnish, seat on a base of solid marble. Approximate weight 6.7 lbs. It is a delivered with a written description of its significance and signed under the base by the author, aside from the signature which appears on the rock the gnome is sitting on.
