Who I Am...
To anybody who is interested about my art, my name is Jean Cote, and I am an artist from Chesterville, Ontario. I was born and raised in Thetford Mines, Quebec. Due to the lack of work, I joined the army when I was 20 years old and stayed there for three years. After that, I was offered a job in Montreal, and lived in that region for over twenty years. I started drawing when I was about six and started to paint when I was about twelve. The only lessons I took, were from a local artist, Raymond Lachance, but only for a few years, I mostly taught myself. I started out painting, using one medium, oil, and sold many paintings, but a few years ago, I discovered water color, with my spouse Theresa, who loves painting as much as I do. We are both disabled and cannot afford to work with oils very much, so we mostly work with water color. I love to do landscapes and still-life with lots of details, but since I was diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis, I don't have a steady hand like I used to, but I will never give up, because I love painting with a passion.
